Junior Software Engineer - Kinetic Effects

Leidos is a defense, space, cyber, and commercial solutions company dedicated to supporting critical customer missions. The Junior Software Engineer will develop, field, support, and maintain software frameworks and products for tactical strike guided munition programs, including analysis tools, simulations, mission planning software, and mission-critical system components.

What you'll do:

• Assist with design and implementation of full-stack software architecture and design patterns for missile system applications implementing major system functions (i.e. guidance, navigation, control, telemetry, and mission planning)
• Participate in technical reviews, design reviews, and code reviews to ensure quality and compliance
• Support technical decisions on tools, frameworks, and development approaches
• Develop software that is designed to promote modularity, reusability, portability, and maintainability requirements
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring coding standards and best practices are applied
• Direct communication with team members will be required on a frequent basis
• Support flight test operations and post-test analysis
• Develop software that adheres to military and aviation standards for safety, cybersecurity, and RMF

What they're looking for:

• Candidate must possess at least a bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Candidate should have 2+ years of relevant technical experience
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one
• Demonstrable experience with C/C++ required
• Experience with Python and Java
• Understanding of software architecture patterns and design principles
• Strong problem-solving abilities and systems-level thinking
• Experience with software configuration management principles and techniques, software quality engineering concepts, and good software standards and practices
• Experience with embedded missile systems, aerospace, or weapons systems development
• Familiarity with real-time embedded systems
• Knowledge of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) principles and application
• Experience with containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and microservices technology
