The Office of Juvenile Justice is seeking a dependable Juvenile Justice Specialist – Code of Conduct Clerk (Part-Time) to support youth supervision, documentation, and security functions within a secure-care environment. This role is ideal for someone who communicates clearly, stays calm under pressure, and values structure, safety, and youth development.

Position Duties

Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR

One year of experience in any field.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.

Job Duties:

As a Code of Conduct Clerk, you’ll assist with youth monitoring, maintain accurate behavioral and unit documentation, and support daily security operations. You’ll help reinforce a safe, orderly environment by conducting security checks, monitoring youth movement, and following contraband-control policies. This position plays an important role in supporting treatment goals and maintaining compliance with facility standards.

Supports youth supervision — assists with monitoring youth, modeling communication and problem-solving skills, and contributing to a safe, treatment-focused environment.
Maintains Code of Conduct documentation — prepares required reports, organizes records, and ensures timely submission of documentation related to youth behavior and unit activity.
Conducts security checks — performs routine inspections of buildings, grounds, doors, gates, and fences to ensure security integrity and reports discrepancies to appropriate staff.
Monitors youth movement — follows facility policies for youth counts, escorts, and movement inside and outside the secure-care environment.
Supports contraband-control procedures — follows policies for preventing and identifying contraband among youth, staff, and visitors.
Assists with unit sanitation — helps maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment by assisting with cleaning physical surroundings and equipment.
Maintains readiness — subject to shift work and 24-hour call; performs additional duties as assigned.

Position-Specific Details:

Work Location: This vacancy is located at Swanson Center for Youth in Monroe, LA.

Appointment Type: This is a part time position

Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Juvenile Justice Specialist 1,2, or 3.

Compensation:

The Juvenile Justice Specialist 1 (pay grade level PS-105) has a Special Entrance Rate of $17.50 hourly.
The Juvenile Justice Specialist 2 (pay grade level PS-106) has a Special Entrance Rate of $18.80 hourly.
The Juvenile Justice Specialist 3 (pay grade level PS-108) has a Special Entrance Rate of $20.11 hourly.

The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c)
