Air Duct Cleaning Technician

About OCI Restoration

OCI Restoration is a locally owned, veteran-owned disaster restoration company serving Raleigh and the surrounding areas. We provide water, fire, smoke, mold, odor, contents, and specialty cleaning services for residential and commercial properties.

We are looking for an experienced, dependable Air Duct Cleaning Technician to perform professional HVAC duct-system cleaning and assist with restoration-related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect residential and commercial HVAC duct systems
  • Explain the recommended cleaning process to customers
  • Set up containment and protect floors, walls, furnishings, and surrounding areas
  • Clean supply and return ductwork using professional negative-air and agitation equipment
  • Clean registers, grilles, diffusers, air handlers, blower compartments, and accessible HVAC components
  • Remove dust, debris, construction contamination, soot, and other contaminants
  • Perform duct cleaning following fire, smoke, water, mold, and construction-related losses
  • Apply approved antimicrobial or deodorizing products when authorized and appropriate
  • Take clear before-and-after photographs and document completed work
  • Maintain accurate job records and equipment logs
  • Clean, inspect, and maintain company equipment and vehicles
  • Follow OSHA requirements, company safety procedures, and industry standards
  • Communicate professionally with customers, property managers, technicians, and project managers
  • Assist with other restoration and specialty-cleaning services when needed
Qualifications

  • Previous professional air duct cleaning experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience operating negative-air machines, air whips, rotary-brush systems, compressed-air tools, and HEPA vacuums
  • Knowledge of residential and commercial HVAC duct-system construction
  • Ability to recognize flexible duct, fiberglass duct board, internally lined ductwork, and sheet-metal ductwork
  • Ability to work safely in attics, crawlspaces, mechanical rooms, and other confined areas
  • Ability to use ladders and lift or move equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds
  • Strong attention to detail and respect for customers’ properties
  • Good communication and customer-service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a restoration team
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass applicable pre-employment screening
Preferred Certifications

  • NADCA Air Systems Cleaning Specialist (ASCS)
  • IICRC Odor Control Technician (OCT)
  • IICRC Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician (FSRT)
  • OSHA safety training
  • Mold remediation or microbial-remediation training
Certifications are preferred but may not be required for a candidate with strong, verifiable field experience.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has hands-on air duct cleaning experience, understands how to protect occupied properties, and takes pride in leaving every job clean and properly documented. We are looking for someone who is dependable, professional, mechanically inclined, and comfortable communicating directly with customers.



Compensation: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

The IICRC is managed by its Board of Directors, which is composed of 15 industry leaders elected by the IICRC’s Shareholders. The Board of Directors’ function is to represent the various interests of the applicants while leading the direction of the organization. The Board of Directors meets four times per year and is tasked with the responsibility of helping shape future policies of the organization and uphold the standards that help shape the industry.
