Join UPMC Presbyterian at a transformative moment in our history. We are seeking a Lead Pharmacist, Perioperative Services to help lead pharmacy practice through the implementation of a new electronic health record, expansion of automation technologies, and opening of the Daniel G. and Carole L. Kamin Tower. 

In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance perioperative medication management, improve patient outcomes, and support innovative models of care across the surgical continuum. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated pharmacist to help shape the future of perioperative services within one of the nation's leading academic medical centers. 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily pharmacy operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
  • Provide leadership, training, coaching, and support to pharmacists, technicians, residents, and students.
  • Develop and maintain workflows, staffing assignments, and operational processes to promote consistency and productivity.
  • Serve as a clinical resource by providing medication-use guidance and drug information.
  • Oversee medication inventory, procurement, recalls, and drug shortage mitigation efforts.
  • Lead quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and cost-containment initiatives.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with providers, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Support accurate billing, charge capture, and resolution of operational issues.
  • Implement departmental policies, Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee decisions, and organizational initiatives.
  • Maintain professional competency and participate in staff education and development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Position includes both operational and clinical responsibilities with no direct reports.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-licensure health-system pharmacist experience.
  • Perioperative pharmacy services, sterile compounding, relevant training/certification in specialized area of pharmacy practice preferred.
