Job Profile

 

Job Summary

The lead phlebotomist is responsible for overseeing the phlebotomy and specimen processing areas in the absence of a supervisor.  This role includes assigning workstations, performing phlebotomy procedures  and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of specimen collection and processing. The Lead Phlebotomist demonstrates proficiency in venipuncture, blood culture collection for bottles or isolator tubes,  age-specific skills in maintaining high standards of safety and compliance. Additionally, the role  involves monitoring staff certifications, training, and competencies, as well as supporting team development and maintaining productivity standards.

Minimum Qualifications

School Education: High School Diploma (or) GED

License & Certifications: Certified Phlebotomist required

Work Experience: Three (3) years experience required (experience in a supervisory or lead role preferred)

Proficiencies: P.C.

Job Attributes

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Other; Laboratory Information Systems (LIS); EPIC and Rover (If applicable), Strong organizational and prioritization skills, Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Work Schedule: Flexible; including rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays, as required

Other Requirements: Phlebotomy Certification Required, Soft Skills (Effective Communication, teamwork, and adaptability) are essential.
