About this role

Meta is seeking a Leased Facility Engineer to serve as a critical onsite presence within its Global Leased Facility Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the operational integrity of Meta's infrastructure deployed in third-party leased data center environments, including hands-on maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, landlord coordination, risk mitigation, and incident response. You will operate with a high degree of independence to protect Meta's assets and ensure continuous uptime across leased critical facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary onsite representative for Meta's Facility Operations team within leased data center environments
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on Meta-owned mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and controls systems to ensure continuous critical facility operations
  • Monitor building management systems and alarms, respond to abnormal conditions, and restore normal operations for Meta-owned assets
  • Coordinate with landlord operations teams to deconflict maintenance schedules, align on facility procedures, and manage the Meta-landlord interface
  • Act as first responder for incidents affecting Meta-owned assets and serve as the primary point of contact with landlord onsite teams during emergencies
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset inventories, service logs, and compliance documentation for all Meta-owned systems
  • Oversee third-party vendors and contractors performing work within leased sites, ensuring adherence to Meta standards and quality expectations
  • Develop, update, and validate maintenance procedures and checklists to improve reliability and operational consistency across leased facilities
  • Conduct incident review meetings to track open action items, drive resolution, and communicate findings to internal stakeholders
  • Support onboarding and qualification of new Leased Facility Engineers through structured assessments and hands-on procedural training

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, or other technical maintenance fields
  • Associate's degree in engineering plus 5+ years of experience, or Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 3+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, or controls will be considered in lieu of 7+ years of experience
  • Experience in hands-on operations and maintenance of critical facility systems
  • Proficient with maintenance management programs and computer systems, including documents, spreadsheets, and email
  • Communicate effectively and serve as a liaison between internal teams and external landlords or vendors
  • Regularly walk job site areas of flat and uneven terrain, work at varying heights and from ladders, and stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with facility maintenance, including lifting up to 45 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience interpreting single-line diagrams, mechanical drawings, or CAD documentation to support maintenance planning and risk assessment
  • Familiarity with integrating automation or AI-assisted tools to optimize maintenance workflows and improve operational efficiency
  • Trade certification or state licensure in electrical or mechanical disciplines (e.g., HVAC, low-voltage, or journeyman electrician)
  • 5+ years of experience operating within a data center or other critical environment such as pharmaceutical, clean room, medical, or power generation facilities

Compensation

  • $104,998/year - $151,008/year; Country: US; Bonus eligible; Equity eligible
