About this role

POSITION SUMMARY:   

The Engineer Technician position has the responsibility to work safely, maintain a positive attitude, be respectful to all and focus efforts and abilities towards building a quality product. The Engineering Technician position will design boats, and parts for boats. This role supports production and new product development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops and performs 3D CAD and 2D CAD.

  • Develops and performs CNC programing.   

  • Creates Bill of Materials.  

  • Performs computer aided drafting and design using reverse engineering or sketches.

  • Conducts boat test as needed.

  • Develops design of prototype boats, special projects, and tooling projects.

  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required:    Trade, Tech or Vocational Education

  • Preferred Degree:  Associate Degree in CAD (if applicable)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Ability to understand 3D CAD

  • Ability to understand 2D CAD

  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to use Microsoft Outlook

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasional

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Light lifting, under 20 lbs.

  • Light carrying, under 20 lbs.

  • Moderate lifting, 21-59 lbs.

  • Moderate carrying, 21 – 59 lbs.

  • Straight pulling

  • Pushing

  • Repeated bending

  • Reaching over shoulders

  • Use of fingers

  • Kneeling

  • Repeated stretching

  • Specific visual requirements

  • Ability to distinguish basic colors

  • Ability to distinguish shades of color

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Outside and inside

  • Extreme noise, intermittent

  • Dust

  • Fumes, smoke, or gasses

  • Solvents (degreasing agents)

  • Slippery or uneven walking surfaces

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

  • Develops objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility within general scope of established operational goals and plans. Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor.
