Legal Accounting Specialist

Daniels & Tredennick PLLC is a mid-size law firm in Houston, Texas, practicing civil trial law, corporate law, intellectual property, and appellate law. The Legal Accounting Specialist will support the Controller by managing accounts payable, billing, reconciliations, reimbursements, vendor records, and other accounting and matter-intake activities.

What you'll do:

• Enter and properly categorize Accounts Payable in Centerbase
• Generate monthly pre-bills and communicate with attorneys to finalize invoices to clients in a timely manner, including e-billing
• Reconcile firm credit cards and petty cash box
• Process employee reimbursements
• Generate month-end cost recovery reports and import into Centerbase
• Monitor Accounting inbox and respond accordingly
• Communicate with paralegals/attorneys regarding client expenses and outstanding client balances
• Maintain vendor records including name and address changes and W-9 information for year-end reporting
• Serve as backup for handling daily bank deposits
• Serve as backup for new matter intake, including conflicts checks and matter opening
• Assist Controller with special projects

What they're looking for:

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail with accuracy and math skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar field preferred
• Experience in Centerbase or similar practice management system preferred
• 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a law firm setting
