About the Department

The purpose of this job is to assist in the Clerk’s Office by performing routine and complex legal clerical work and providing excellent customer service to the public. The Clerk’s Office of the Public Service Commission assists the Commissioners with managing the administrative, non-judicial functions and maintenance of the Commission records. The job duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Will provide professional and courteous customer service to staff and the general public by assisting with and responding to questions from incoming phone calls, electronic inquires and/or face to face.
- Assist with project-related work in the Legal Department. to include assisting with drafting, typing, revising, processing, copying, filing, transiting and/or distributing a variety of forms, records, reports, legal documents, notices and correspondence.
- Assists with proofreading legal document filings and construct clerk’s office documents (e.g. Notices, Prefile, Summaries).
- Organize and process legal filings from intake to database filings to paper filings. Become proficient in Web based Docket Management Filing and electronic and mail service. Maintains strict confidentiality of records at all times. Assists with preparing, processing indexing, filing, transmitting matter documents and records, which include all various forms of documentation.
- Perform other duties and related work as required and assigned.
Position Duties
Associate degree in related field and one (1) year of professional experience and employment at the Public Service Commission.
Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Windows, and ability to quickly learn web-based programs and databases.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of modern office practice, procedures and operation of standard office equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with excellent verbal and written skills. Must have strong editing and proofreading skills and have excellent multitasking ability.
- Well organized and able to independently coordinate diverse functions and duties. Must be able to work in a team environment with capacity to adapt with an ever-changing regulatory environment.
- Be able to work in a team environment where all clerk’s office staff can back up each other and jump into their duties if needed. Must be willing to lend a hand to any PSC staff member if needed.
