LPN-Licensed Practical Nurse
Position Summary
A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct care to patients and is a critical part of a healthcare team. An LPN usually assists a Registered Nurse (RN) and often oversees one or more Certified Nursing Assistant(s) (CNA) to carry out care plans and maintain patient comfort and well-being. LPNs take on a direct role in providing personal care to those in their charge, often assisting with all areas of the patient’s daily living needs. This enables LPNs to have a hands-on understanding of the care needed and offers the ability to make a positive impact on health outcomes.
Principal Duties
· Learn Athena clinical EMR
· Participates in the delivery and evaluation of patient care
· Ensures the health, comfort and safety of patients
· Adhere to clinic/company policies and procedures
· Learn basic patient triage and computer input
· Implements patient care plans to include blood draws and immunizations
· Identify patients and their personal information using their ID, documents or 2 patient identifiers (ex. Name & DOB)
· Determine the correct venipuncture method based on patient age, health etc.
· Assists providers during examinations and procedures
· Performs various patient tests and administers medications with the scope of practice of the nurse
· Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working
· Ensure patient confidentiality
· Cleans work area as needed
· Other duties as assigned by the management
Essential Skills/Job Requirements
- Familiarity with computer and relevant software applications

Experience & Education
· LPN or RN certification
· 1-3 years’ experience
Physical Requirements
Needs to be able to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasional, reach and manipulate objects with their hands (like a keyboard). Have good vision for reading computer screens and be able to hear clearly to answer phone calls; most positions may require lifting light items up to 10 pounds occasionally.
