DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the upkeep and improvement of park buildings, grounds, and essential systems. The role relies on mechanical, construction, and leadership abilities to ensure that facilities remain safe and functional. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Facility Maintenance: Maintain park structures, systems, and grounds with tasks ranging from carpentry to plumbing and electrical work
  • Equipment Upkeep: Keep tools, vehicles, and machinery in safe operating condition through inspections, repairs, and scheduled service
  • Project Leadership: Guide seasonal employees and volunteers while planning and carrying out construction, landscaping, and improvement projects
  • Inventory Control: Manage materials, supplies, and records to support efficient planning and completion of maintenance tasks
  • Trail and Habitat Care: Improve trails, remove hazards, support prairie ecosystem work, and assist with prescribed fire activities
  • Safety Oversight: Ensure proper labeling, documentation, training, and hazard tracking as the Safety Officer and Right to Know Coordinator

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • You will be required to work weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Organization or Location Restrictions:

  • This posting is restricted to Department of Conservation and Natural Resources employees only. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Necessary Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
