The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for ensuring the campus facilities, including the building and surrounding grounds, support the programmatic goals of the Governor's school at a high level by performing semi-skilled duties, assisting other coworkers in performing regular and emergency maintenance duties, and providing logistical support, including setup and breakdown for all campus events.

Responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician:
  • Conducts maintenance repairs by responding to work orders.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance for facility systems (boiler, HVAC, electrical).
  • Responds to immediate priorities as set by the Facilities Director.
  • Organizes and coordinates standardized preventative maintenance and work-order responses and recommendations.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records responding to work orders (computerized) and follow-up notifications for end-user and faculty and staff. 
  • Assess, record, and help set priority maintenance actions (walk arounds, enter work orders, propose fixed schedule).
  • Responds quickly to campus emergency facility/security needs.
  • Other duties/functions as assigned or developed to support the GSSM facility effectiveness. 

Position Duties

High school diploma and trade experience that directly relates to the area of employment is required. Good communication and scheduling skills are also necessary. 


Additional Requirements:
  • Occasional evening and weekend work is required in support of school events, programs, and special initiatives.
