About this role
About the Department
The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of tasks at the Tyger River Campus to support the maintenance of Spartanburg Community College-owned facilities and equipment. Completes assigned maintenance, renovation, and construction projects. Uses the maintenance management work order system to receive and complete all work orders.
Makes repairs to plumbing systems, such as repairing and replacing flush valves, faucets, and water fountains.
Makes repairs to a wide variety of equipment such as exhaust fans, lighting systems, fire and smoke alarm systems, clocks, repair door hardware, electrical components, etc.
Assists other technicians with a variety of specific maintenance duties as directed by the supervisor in areas of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and contract work as needed. Calibrates, repairs, monitors, and works with main campus HVAC technicians as needed to control HVAC systems. Maintains room temperatures and monitors on a regular basis to ensure occupant comfort is maintained.
Assists in renovations or modifications being done by Campus Operations. Assists with rearranging rooms for special events and programs.
Performs roof inspections to prevent any damage from roof leaks, and if possible, makes the recommended repairs or coordinates with a roofing repair contractor.
Position Duties
A high school diploma or equivalent and formal training or trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in related area; two years of experience in a variety of areas such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical work. A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Other Qualifications
Must be able to be on-call some weekends as scheduled and work overtime when required. Must be able to perform hands on labor and capable of lifting weights up to 50 lbs.
