Posting Details
This position is located at the District 5 main campus in Santa Fe and manages the Design and Local Government Section. It is an opportunity to guide a diverse array of NMDOT-led and locally led transportation projects, lead engineering staff, manage consultant teams, and work directly with local, tribal, state, and federal partners. The position is involved throughout project development, from scoping and consultant selection through design review and preparation for construction.
As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive 3 days of administrative leave upon your start date. This applies to external hires who are not currently employed by the State of New Mexico.
Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.

Ideal Candidate
- Supervising and developing staff;
- Managing projects and consultant contracts;
- Developing RFPs, scopes, estimates, and professional services agreements;
- Highway design and plan development using AASHTO criteria and NMDOT standards and specifications; and
- Developing local projects and working with NMDOT staff, consultants, FHWA, and local and tribal entities.
