About this role

Job Summary

Manages the activities of professional, technical and support employees who are engaged in providing for efficient and timely plant operations for all licensed Corewell Health facilities. Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with public utility, environmental and energy agencies. Provides oversight for system wide sustainability programs such as recycling and energy conservation activities. Develops departmental budgets and works with upper management in setting goals and objectives for the department.

Essential Functions

  • Manages the efficient and timely operations of power plants to ensure an appropriate supply of electricity, gas, water, and other essential utilities required for operations. Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with public utility, environmental, energy agencies to ensure efficient and timely operations through cooperation and coordination of activities. Promotes sustainability initiatives for system wide operations.
  • Manages all hospital maintenance activities, ensuring the optimum level of equipment efficiency and that hospital renovations are accomplished in a cost effective and timely manner.
  • Oversees the planning, procurement, project management and use of equipment needed to ensure timely and efficient response to general and building services requests.
  • Manages the activities of professional, technical and support employees who are engaged in providing for efficient and timely plant operations at Corewell Health. Facilitates the training and continuing education of employees. Provides direction and support to subordinate employees to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with departmental policies and organization philosophy.
  • Ensures that employees respond to requests for services, information, records, and data on a timely basis. Researches and resolves problems.
  • Provides oversight for all Joint Commission and State of Michigan life safety and utility management code compliance issues. Chairs hospital wide committees on behalf of plant operations to ensure that services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation / compliance requirements.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains departmental annual operating budgets, ensuring that operations are managed within established guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Required - Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent education and experience) in Business, Facilities Management or related field
  • 5 years of relevant experience managing plant operation and maintenance functions - Required
  • CRT-Healthcare Facility Manager, Certified (CHFM) - Upon Hire preferred
