About this role

Toyota Material Handling is seeking a Manufacturing Analyst Intern to support its Operations Planning team during Summer 2027. The role focuses on analyzing and improving the Operation Plan used to determine manufacturing manpower requirements, documenting planning processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and presenting recommendations to leadership.

What you'll do:

  • Analyze the current Operation Plan to understand how manpower requirements are determined based on production volume and truck model mix
  • Document the current planning process, including key inputs, assumptions, calculations, and decision points
  • Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and usability of the Operation Plan through data analysis and process improvements
  • Collaborate with Operations, Production Control, Production and Manufacturing Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to validate findings and develop improvement recommendations
  • Present project findings, proposed solutions, and expected business impact to manufacturing leadership

What they're looking for:

  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and formulas
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in manufacturing operations
  • Ability to interpret data and communicate findings clearly
  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Columbus, IN, for the duration of the Summer 2027 internship
  • Experience with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, or other data visualization and analytics tools
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Toyota Production System principles
  • Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment
  • Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • This is an **in-person role** located at our **Columbus, Indiana** facility—ideal for those who thrive in a hands-on, team-oriented manufacturing environment
