About this role
Daimler Truck North America is a commercial vehicle manufacturer developing solutions in sustainability and future driving technology. The Manufacturing Systems Engineer I supports the implementation, integration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of advanced manufacturing, automation, AI, machine vision, IIoT, and data analytics technologies across manufacturing operations.
What you'll do:
- Support the implementation, testing, and maintenance of advanced manufacturing technologies and Industry 4.0 solutions
- Assist with deployment and support of machine vision systems, industrial cameras, smart sensors, and automated inspection equipment
- Support integration of manufacturing systems with production equipment, Manufacturing Control Systems (MCS), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and other manufacturing technologies
- Participate in automation projects including robotics, smart manufacturing equipment, and connected factory solutions
- Assist in collecting, organizing, validating, and analyzing manufacturing data to identify opportunities for operational improvement
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide actionable insights to manufacturing stakeholders
- Support the development of data analytics solutions used to improve quality, productivity, downtime reduction, and process performance
- Assist with database management, data integration, and data quality activities
- Assist with implementation and support of AI-enabled manufacturing solutions, predictive analytics tools, and computer vision applications
- Support Industrial IoT (IIoT) initiatives involving data acquisition, machine connectivity, and manufacturing system integration
- Participate in evaluation and testing of new technologies that improve manufacturing operations
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to manufacturing software, automation systems, and connected devices
What they're looking for:
- * Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related technical field, and 0-2 years of experience, is required
- * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- * Ability to learn new technologies, tools, and processes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- * Strong written and verbal communication skills
- * Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams
- * Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
- * Interest in manufacturing technology, automation, digital transformation, and data-driven decision making
- * Naturally curious with a passion for understanding how systems, technologies, and processes work
- * Demonstrated ability for self-learning and independent exploration of new technical concepts
- * Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- * Adaptable and comfortable working with evolving technologies and business priorities
- * Effective communicator who can work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
