How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region: 
The Market Development Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic marketing recruitment programs for Metro Transit. In addition, you may manage projects that increase ridership, revenue and other initiatives that support Metro Transit Forward vision and mission.

This position is eligible for a hybrid (both remote and onsite) telework arrangement. The candidate's permanent residence must be in Minnesota or Wisconsin. 
 
Recruitment Type:  This posting will establish a six-month candidate pool for present and future openings. 
Full Salary Range: $34.95/hr. or $72,696/yr. to $56.72/hr. or $117,978/yr.

What you would do in this job

This position will be engaged primarily on Fare Modernization marketing and rebuilding usage of existing and new fare tools, with specific focus on building customer awareness and education in advance of the Green Line launch.  After the successful launch, focus would realign with existing fare tools with evaluation and subsequent modifications.   The customer experience and our fare system are ever evolving Lead the implementation of mygotopay.com website, coordinating UX, designers, IS Developers, Customer Experience and Revenue Operations stakeholders to ensure a successful launch. 

  1. Develop and implement marketing strategies to support the transition from Go-To Cards to go-to pay cards and/or open payments that includes: 
    1. Broad public marketing effort 
    2. Metrotransit.org changes before and throughout the transition 
    3. Metropass, supporting Commuter Programs’ marketing and creative needs
    4. Cub Foods / Retail Partner – marketing materials 
    5. Transit Stores – marketing materials 
    6. Outreach and customer education materials 
  2. Build the marketing strategy for the launch and post-launch of Open Payments and account-based ticketing as a new customer benefit
  3. Lead marketing and customer education for fare capping. Develop and implement strategy. 
  4. Research, develop and implement marketing strategies to rebuild fare tool usage and increase ridership in collaboration with Revenue Operations, CX Product Manager, Commuter Programs and other stakeholders
  5. Develop strategy and messaging for go-to pay webstore, card media and fare equipment including go-to pay site branding, design and development in collaboration with IS, RevOps and other business units
  6. CUBIC upgrade project by developing and implementing an Internal Communications plan with OCM (Organizational Change Management) and other internal work units 
  7. Develop and support marketing, communication, and customer education efforts around fare policy changes.  This includes at least six phases of plans through 2027 and beyond.
  8. Support Green Line Extension Launch fare tool communications to customers and internal stakeholders ensuring customers are aware of changes and realizing benefits to support a flawless Green Line Launch
  9. Assist in prioritizing and marketing initiatives that are critical to Network Now and product development for a regional vision that meets the needs of our riders including employers, schools, low-income residents and other key markets
  10. Lead and develop all marketing and communications promotional, campaign and information strategies. Migrate developed content inventory into Workfront and assign the content creation tasks
  11. Collaborate on long term strategic plan and marketing needs for mobile app and develop implementation of digital marketing strategy for ongoing promotional efforts
  12. Support the development of strong relationships between RevOps with other transit providers
  13. Continue to engage and support the fare payment road mapping and customer journey and communicating with our customers and potential riders is an ongoing critical effort

What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications)

  • High school diploma/GED AND at least seven (7) years of related marketing and public relations experience to include advertising, market research and media community relations.
  • Associate's degree or higher in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or related field AND five (5) years of related marketing and public relations experience to include advertising, market research and media community relations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or closely related field AND three (3) years of marketing and public relations experience to include advertising, market research and media community relations.
  • Master's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or related field AND one (1) year of marketing and public relations experience to include advertising, market research and media community relations.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and applies effective time management skills to meet all deadlines.  Able to successfully prioritize and manage multiple tasks and numerous projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively both orally and in writing to all levels of people inside and outside the organization, including possessing good grammar, voice and diction.
  • Skilled in public speaking and conducting presentations using a laptop. 
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint applications and ability to use email and Outlook calendar functions for setting up meetings, presentations and events.
  • Effective problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Active listening skills and skilled in dealing with conflict and stressful situations.
  • Ability to understand statistical analysis and database management.
  • Ability to use copiers, printers, and other office equipment required for putting together meeting materials.
