About this role
The MCC Clinical Registered Nurse - Associate provides direct nursing care to patients at the Mays Cancer Center. Demonstrated competence in preparing equipment and aiding physicians during treatment and examination of patients. Works under the general supervision of the department leadership.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct nursing care to patients in a clinic setting to include: Preparing equipment and aiding physician during treatment and examination of patients, performing complex medical testing and providing interpretations of results, consulting with physicians and implementing treatment plans.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments, observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions.
- Develops protocols and procedure manuals.
- Performs daily maintenance checks and the preparation of rooms, instruments, supplies and performs or schedules routine maintenance of equipment.
- Documents patient care and treatment and assists with training of staff.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates the ability to function within the required nursing process as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
- Demonstrates the ability to support the mission, vision and patient promise throughout all interactions.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, written and verbally.
- Demonstrates analytical thinking – this role requires analyzing information and using logic to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates the ability to participate as an integral part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing the highest quality of care to the patient.
- Required certifications must remain current and valid.
Ability to serve as a preceptor and a mentor by fostering a teaching environment. Position eligible for preceptor premium pay with completion of preceptor education and leader approval.
EDUCATION:
Associate's degree in nursing required.
EXPERIENCE:
Up to one (1) year of nursing experience is required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Active CPR/BLS required.
Active TX Nursing licensure required.
