Job Description

Would you like to be directly supporting the Reactor Servicing mission of the program?  If you want to use your Mechanical Engineering knowledge and skills to solve real world problems and see your ideas, come to life, then the M-290/M140 Design and Analysis Unit in Reactor Servicing Systems is looking for you.  With design and implementation cycles lasting from weeks to months you can quickly have direct input to solve real problems that are affecting the Navy and spent fuel transportation by developing new solutions that will advance the program's mission, Apply today! The M-290/M-140 Design and Analysis group is seeking a mechanical engineer to work on designs supporting spent fuel shipping containers.  The successful candidate would perform mechanical system and hardware design, finite element analysis, as well as supporting the fleet of spent fuel containers.  The candidate would work with a diverse team of engineers, scientists, project managers, and shipyards to support the Naval Reactors program.  

 

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or
  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or
  • Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or
  • Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Preferred Skills

  • Design Experience with NNPP components.
  • Ability to lead a small team.
  • Motivation to pursue advances in technology, make decisions, and deliver results.
  • Experience using 3D CAD software packages to evaluate suitability of a design based on functional requirements, design codes, and constraints (budget, physical space available, interferences, etc).

Pay Range

$95,700.00 - $149,600.00 annually

Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
