Description
We are seeking dedicated and skilled Medical Technologists to join our healthcare team for part time afternoon and nights. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in performing laboratory tests and analyses that assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This position requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
Position Accountabilities:
1. Follows written procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, and reporting patient test results within acceptable time limits
2. Evaluates specimen adequacy, abnormal, and panic results and delta checks according to standard operating procedures; relates test results to sample integrity; demonstrates the ability to interpret lab results utilizing age specific data as appropriate
3. Properly uses collection summary and incomplete worklist to confirm missing specimens; assumes responsibility for assigned area; maintains a working knowledge of the laboratory information for ordering/accessioning/resulting of test information
4. Follows proper quality assurance measures and operation of equipment necessary for the performance of assigned procedures; defers instrument problem to supervisor or service personnel when indicated
5. Performs routine laboratory tests that require a moderate level of independent judgment and interpretation of testing factors
6. Confirms abnormal results and follows written procedures for reporting critical values
7. Assists in evaluation of new procedures, methods, reagents, or controls as appropriate
8. Recognizes instrument and sample factors that affect procedures and results; documents activities; informs supervisor as appropriate
9. Adheres to quality control and quality assurance policies; documents all quality control activities and notifies supervisor of our of control results
10. Records daily workload appropriately
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Medical Technology required. After orientation, up to six month’s experience on this job is required to perform essential functions.
Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP or NCA required.
