Step into a specialized medical surgical unit where compassion, organization, and teamwork come together to support patients with complex needs. Our Med/Surg 2 Unit cares for patients requiring continuous post-operative recovery and ongoing medical management.
As a Medical Unit Receptionist (MUR), you serve as the central hub of communication for the unit—supporting nurses, providers, patients, and families to ensure seamless and efficient daily operations.
What makes this unit and role stand out:
• A collaborative, patient-focused team dedicated to high-quality patient care
• The opportunity to work closely with interdisciplinary teams including nursing, providers, and ancillary departments
• Exposure to a specialized patient population, including post-operative recovery and ongoing medical management procedures
• Leadership that values teamwork, attention to detail, and professional growth
• A meaningful role where your organization and communication directly impact patient safety and overall experience
If you’re organized, adaptable, and ready to play an essential role in a fast-paced, high-acuity acute setting, our Med/Surg team would love to connect with you.
What You'll Do
• Serving as the primary point of contact for incoming calls, visitors, and interdepartmental communication
• Supporting admissions, transfers, and discharges within the electronic medical record
• Assisting nurses and providers with coordination of care and message routing
• Maintaining accurate documentation, patient charts, and unit logs
• Scheduling tests, procedures, and patient transport as requested
• Ensuring workstations, supply areas, and communication tools remain organized and up to date
• Supporting patient flow in a fast-paced, specialized care environment
What We're Looking For
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Experience: One year experience in healthcare, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required.
- Additional Skills (preferred): Experience with answering multiple phone lines. Basic computer skills. Excellent customer service behaviors.
