This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center, 507 Forest Cir, Walterboro, SC 29488.As the Mental Health Professional, working under the direct supervision of the Colleton Clinic Director, you will provide recovery-oriented services to a population with severe and persistently mental illness, in the Clinic and in the community. Services will be delivered according to the guidelines established by the SCDBHDD.
Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional:
- Provide direct clinical services such as Assessment, Individual Therapy, Group Therapy, Crisis Management, and other services on an as-needed basis to an identified population of patients with severe and persistent mental illnesses. Ensure documentation of all services provided following established standards.
- Provide consultation/education activities and case management on behalf of our patients to community agencies as requested, under the supervision of the Colleton Clinic Director. Assist in linkage of patients to primary care physicians, liaison with in-patient facilities and assists with discharges.
- Attend and participate in weekly team staffings with treatment team, attend and participate in supervision with supervisor; all-staff and other agency meetings as scheduled. Develop treatment goals and objectives with patients. Participate as needed in community staffings on behalf of patient and in accordance with agency guidelines and privacy/HIPPA.
- Assist in developing and facilitating necessary housing, financial platforms and other resources to meet the needs of patients served.
- Document all contacts with patients, families, significant others and agencies, according to all Quality Assurance Standards.
This position MAY be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.
Coastal Empire CMHC is an approved site of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), which offers student loan repayment of up to $50,000.00 to employees of NHSC- approved sites. You must be a US Citizen, you must be licensed to practice independently in the state where you are hired and you must have unpaid government or commercial school loans. There is a two year service commitment required as well. Confirmation of qualifying for this loan repayment program is the responsibility of every applicant - we cannot guarantee your qualification.
Position Duties
- A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
Other Qualifications
Post hire, employees must:
- Be able to complete Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) certification
- Be able to participate in after hours crisis intervention.
