We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Regional Leader to join our Middle Market Practice, focusing on providing innovative and tailored commercial insurance solutions to companies. In this role, you will oversee a diverse range of risk management needs, including property, liability, cyber security, employment practices liability, and more. By leveraging advanced technology and data-driven strategies, you will help middle-market businesses identify, assess, and mitigate risks, ensuring they receive customized insurance and risk management solutions that meet their unique challenges. The ideal candidate will be based in the Midwest and able to work from a designated office location 4 days per week as part of our hybrid work model.

What the day will look like

 

  • Operationally leading and managing the team.
  • Providing technical leadership and training to the Middle Market Broking team and broader Practice.
  • Coordinating marketing strategy and broking major accounts and lead lines.
  • Lead broker on complex insurance programs - Perform strategic assessment, design solutions and negotiate risk transfer products.
  • Developing client and network relationships.
  • Ensuring a high level of client retention.
  • Analysis of client’s exposures to identify and mitigate risk as well as responsible for the coordination of the placement and day-to-day activities on accounts.
  • Develop & maintain understanding of analytical/actuarial techniques to design and compare risk transfer/financing plans.
  • Effectively plan and lead renewal cycle.
  • Establish credibility (knowledge/trust) with both clients and Aon peers (grow extensive internal network)
  • Develop technical proficiency demonstrating capabilities to build innovative solutions
  • Possess senior executive client communication and negotiation skills (oral & written)
  • Effectively communicate market/industry perspectives and applications to specific client situation.
  • Participate in RFP responses. Assist in business development; expanding engagements with existing clients, sourcing new projects/consultancy services and engaging with our insurer partners.
  • Ensure operational excellence including adherence to service management requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of Aon’s scope of resources and capabilities to promote interdependency and enhanced client services.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

 

  • Team management experience, preferably over a broad geographical area
  • Proven teamwork skills enabling the candidate to successfully lead broking teams and leverage thought leaders in pursuit of greater client, carrier and Aon outcomes
  • Strong oral presentation skills and the ability to clearly articulate complex messages in written form
  • Involvement in the transaction of insurance for commercial risk/middle market companies
  • A network of carrier relationships, carrier references required
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Experience using management reports to find opportunities and impact results
  • Consistent achievement of assigned territorial or practice goals
  • Track record of successful recruiting of impactful talent

Bachelor’s degree in or equivalent years of industry experience.

  • A Property and Casualty Brokers License is required, or must be obtained within 90 days of hire if not already active

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $234,600-$300,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.  The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Chicago,IL.  The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

 

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary.  The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
