District Recruitment for Rapides Parish:
The purpose of this position is to operate a variety of equipment for the purposes of road/bridge construction and maintenance. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties with minimal supervision and able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.
While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.

Other Qualifications
Job Duties:
Operate equipment, as needed.
Perform manual tasks such as pothole patching, manual cutting of brush and grass, ditch digging, cleaning buildings, assisting in mud jack operations, cutting trees, collecting litter, etc.
Perform minor repairs, services, preventative maintenance, and clean equipment.
May be required to perform other duties as necessary, including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.
Position-Specific Details:
Current Class A CDL license is required at the time of appointment for the MEO 2 and MEO 1--Heavy levels.
Requires random drug testing.
Required to work in all types of inclement weather and conditions.
**This position is considered Disaster Essential
Appointment Type: Probational/Promotional
Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday/6:30AM-5:00PM
