Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. This posting is intended to establish a pool of qualified adjunct candidates for anticipated instructional needs for 2027. Actual hiring and course assignments are contingent upon enrollment, scheduling demands, program needs, and funding availability. As a result, there may or may not be positions filled from this posting.

Germanna Community College invites applications for a part-time adjunct faculty member in Music.
Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in Music. Instruction will occur online and in a classroom environment. The successful candidate will be able to successfully instruct and assist students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.
Please note: This wide salary range reflects the diverse faculty ranks within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Final salary determination and placement within this range are based on the candidate’s academic credentials and occupational experience as evaluated via the VCCS-10 process.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
- M.F.A. or M.A. in music from an accredited university or college and have at least graduate 18 credits in their teaching field
- Understanding of general music theory and history
- Ability to work with a diverse population
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent oral/written communication skills
- Ability to use instructional technology
Additional Considerations
- Teaching online experience, Regular Substantive Interaction training, CANVAS lms skills
- Prior experience teaching in higher education
- Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment
- Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency
- Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools
