About this role

Family Life Academy Charter Schools is a nonprofit network of K-12 charter schools serving the South Bronx community. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator supports the department’s communications, storytelling, social media, email, website, brand, and student recruitment efforts across the school network.

What you'll do:

  • Capture, source, and organize photos and video from school events, classrooms, and programs across all five campuses; coordinate with school leaders to surface high-interest, brand-aligned stories
  • Perform photo and video editing to produce social posts, reels, and short highlight pieces
  • Draft, design, and lay out marketing pieces that are consistent with the FLACS brand, including flyers, one-pagers, newsletters, social graphics, and recruitment collateral
  • Write clear, warm, strengths-based copy for a range of audiences, using brand-aligned vocabulary and plain language, primarily in English, Spanish, and other languages
  • Manage the day-to-day content calendar and posting across Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube; draft captions, build stories and reels, and monitor engagement
  • Execute email marketing campaigns and support initiatives to grow and segment the FLACS email list
  • Keep website content current in partnership with the Director, including events, news, and enrollment and community information
  • Produce and deploy student recruitment marketing across print and digital channels, leading with the brand signature and the standard apply call-to-action
  • Support the enrollment funnel from awareness to application to registration, in partnership with the network and school SRE teams
  • Build, schedule, and translate post-lottery and student enrollment messaging using FLACS's bilingual email and text templates
  • Help coordinate and promote recruitment events, open houses, and community moments
  • Apply and maintain the FLACS Branding Guidelines consistently, including logo usage, color palette, and typography, across every piece produced

What they're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 1–3 years of experience in communications, marketing, social media, or content creation
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with proven ability to adapt tone for families, staff, and prospective candidates
  • Hands-on experience creating content for social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, including stories and reels
  • Comfort capturing photos and short videos, with basic editing skills and an eye for authentic, candid, dignified moments
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple deadlines and a recurring content calendar
  • Clearance for fingerprint and criminal background check
  • Working knowledge of the FLACS tool stack: Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, ParentSquare, Schoolmint, Meta, Google Workspace, Eventbrite, and Claude
  • Basic experience with website content management and reading simple analytics
  • Experience in K-12 education, charter schools, or community-serving nonprofits
  • Connection to or familiarity with the South Bronx community
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus

Benefits:

  • Embedded professional development program
  • Partially remote work
