New Graduate Project Engineer I - Traffic Analysis & Planning

Timmons Group is seeking a motivated Civil Project Engineer I for its Traffic Analysis & Planning Group in Richmond, Virginia. The role supports operational and traffic studies, multimodal planning and design, traffic safety analysis, engineering calculations, plan development, field data collection, client collaboration, cost estimates, and technical reports.

What you'll do:

• Complete operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis
• Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation
• Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems
• Research and prepare material specifications, installation guidelines, and inspection protocols
• Work to complete design details and plan sets
• Complete field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff
• Collaborate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff
• Contribute to cost estimates and technical reports that drive project success

What they're looking for:

• A bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or a closely related degree with coursework in transportation/traffic preferred
• EIT preferred
• Knowledge of Traffic Analyses, Planning Studies, Traffic Safety, Traffic Forecasting, Traffic Signal Design, ITS Design, and/or Traffic Signal Timing is preferred
