About this role

Bankers Insurance Group provides insurance products and services. The Northeast High School Intern - Product & Analytics will support Products and Portfolio Analytics teams by organizing data, reviewing reports, assisting with portfolio summaries, conducting introductory research, and preparing documents and presentations while learning about commercial insurance products.

What you'll do:

  • Data Organization: Assist with organizing insurance-related information, spreadsheets, reference materials, and project files under the direction of team members
  • Basic Data Review: Review spreadsheets and reports for missing information, inconsistent formatting, duplicate entries, or obvious errors, and communicate questions to the appropriate team member
  • Spreadsheet Support: Use Microsoft Excel or Power BI to enter, sort, filter, format, and summarize basic information. Create simple tables and charts when requested
  • Insurance Product Learning: Learn the basic purpose of commercial insurance products, including Business Owners Policies, Builders’ Risk, and Flood insurance
  • Portfolio Reporting Support: Assist with preparing simple summaries of information such as policy counts, premium, locations, states, product types, and other portfolio characteristics
  • Product Research and Information Gathering: Conduct introductory research on insurance, business, construction, property, and community-related topics using approved sources. Summarize findings in clear, concise notes
  • Document and Presentation Preparation: Help format Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, meeting materials, and other team communications
  • Quality and Organization: Follow established instructions, maintain organized files, protect confidential information, and help ensure work is completed accurately
  • Team Collaboration: Attend team meetings when appropriate, listen and take notes, ask questions, and communicate progress on assigned tasks

What they're looking for:

  • Interest in business, insurance, mathematics, technology, research, or data
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and ask thoughtful questions
  • Intermediate computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Windows
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing accurate work
  • Basic organizational and time-management skills
  • Clear and respectful communication
  • Ability to work cooperatively with employees and other team members
  • Dependability, professionalism, and respect for confidential company information
  • Basic understanding of insurance principles, spreadsheets, or data analysis is a plus, but not required
  • Familiarity with Power BI/Tableau/Looker and SQL is a plus, but not required
