This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Morris Village Alcohol and Drug Addiction Treatment Center

As the Nursing Assistant Non-Certified, working under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, you will perform therapeutic care and assist patients in meeting their needs of performing activities of daily living (ADL). You will also assist in providing and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities for the Nursing Assistant (Non-Certified):
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Nursing Care Plan (NCP) and Treatment Plan as it relates to providing nursing care. Participate in quality control monitoring and peer review as assigned.
- Provide care for patients with mental illnesses, substance abuse, aggressive behavior, or suicidal tendencies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the therapeutic communication skills, take under consideration age specific competencies, and culturally diverse patients.
- Identify the need for and perform basic care/activities of daily living for patients.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Standard Precautions and performs Quality Control Environmental checks.
- Assist in caring for patients with behavioral/physical problems.
- Provide basic care for patients requiring Special Precautions, Seclusion, 4-Point Restraints, and supportive Protective Restraints; follow policy on meeting patients' special needs for hygiene, nutrition, toileting, fluids and ADLs.
- Participate in maintaining a clean and therapeutic environment by being productively occupied at all times and meeting the needs of the patients.
Position Duties
- A high school diploma or GED or a bachelor's degree in a health-related field, and at least one to five years or more of healthcare related experience.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; be able to stand, walk, reach, pull, push, stoop, bend, and climb at least two or three flights of stairs.
- Must be able to tolerate noise level and circulate in patient areas for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work with various patient behaviors.
- Must be able to work beyond scheduled hours as required to meet safe staffing standards/regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
Other Qualifications
Post Hire, employees must have:
- Successfully complete basic in-service training.
