The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for an Office Assistant 2 for the Palmer Correctional Center (PCC), located in Sutton, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:
Under the general supervision of the Administrative Officer 2 and minimum Unit Team Sergeant, reviews and processes inmate payroll within Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). Maintain an accurate database of all prisoner jobs, available weekly hours, name of each prisoner currently employed in the position and the name of the supervisor for the position. Maintain records of prisoners who have either quit their job assignment without giving the required notice or who have been fired from their assigned job.

Palmer Correctional Center is a medium and minimum custody facility located in Sutton which houses up to 500 inmates and 107 employees. Position Duties
High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Substitution:
Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience).
Special Note:
"High school diploma equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.
Some position in this class may require skill in typing. Recruitment and selection may include this requirement.
Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

- List of three professional references
- If using education to meet the MQs, a copy of transcripts
- Three most recent performance evaluations. If all three cannot be provided, a written explanation as to the reason.

It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

PREA NOTIFICATION:
The Department of Corrections follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including, but not limited to, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders. Please be aware – this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
