About this role
Important Info
Please submit application materials addressed to Dr. Sohail Husain and electronically to Dr. Olivia Tsai at [email protected].
The laboratory of Dr. Sohail Husain in the Stanford Pediatric Exocrine Pancreas Program seeks an exceptional Postdoctoral Scholar to join a dynamic research team investigating the mechanistic role of vitamin A and its retinoid metabolites in acute and severe pancreatitis. The successful candidate will contribute to multidisciplinary projects that integrate animal models, single cell transcriptomics, and translational human cohort studies to uncover how retinoid signaling influences pancreatic inflammation and tissue injury. The position builds upon foundational work including a 2023 Science Translational Medicine paper by Cheng-Yu Tsai et al., which identified a protective role for vitamin A in asparaginase-associated pancreatitis ( https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/scitranslmed.abn2110) that motivates ongoing mechanistic studies in this laboratory.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute innovative research that dissects retinoid biology in pancreatitis models.
- Lead and interpret data from mechanistic experiments including organ physiology, genetic models, and omics profiling.
- Collaborate across disciplines, including translational projects involving clinical samples.
- Present findings at internal meetings and scientific conferences.
- Prepare manuscripts and grant proposals.
Appointment Details
This is a full time Postdoctoral Scholar appointment through the Stanford Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. The expected appointment duration is consistent with Stanford norms with the potential for renewal based on performance and funding. Stanford University requires inclusion of the expected base pay.
Visa and Eligibility
Stanford University is committed to international scholarship and will sponsor work visas consistent with institutional policy. Candidate eligibility will follow Stanford postdoctoral appointment guidelines, including doctoral completion and appointment prerequisites. (Stanford Postdocs)
