About this role
Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) delivers technical solutions to complex national security issues and supports government customers. The company is seeking a Junior Operations Research Analyst to support Department of Defense programs by developing models, running simulations, analyzing data, and communicating findings to senior decision makers.
What you'll do:
- Support the development of digital models of complex real-world systems using commercial and proprietary tools
- Assist in the design, build, and execution of constructive simulations using best practices for design of experiments
- Analyze data sets using analytic frameworks and statistical methods
- Prepare presentations, reports, and other deliverables to convey findings and recommendations
- Balance tasks across multiple projects and maintain regular communication with task leads
What they're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related field
- Coursework, internship, or academic project experience with data analysis and visualization using Excel, Python, R, Tableau, or similar tools
- Ability to apply structured, rigorous analytic methodologies to complex problem-solving
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver clear technical presentations
- U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance
- Internship, co-op, ROTC, or academic project exposure to DoD organizations, acquisition programs, or capability development activities
- Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools commonly used in defense analysis (e.g., CAMEO, MagicDraw, Sparx EA, AFSIM, STK, AnyLogic) or mission-level modeling and simulation
- Knowledge of design of experiments, statistical modeling, machine learning methods, AI agentic training
- Softwared development, programming knowledge
