This position offers daylight hours Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., with start times varying based on clinic schedules. The Ophthalmic Technician will work alongside ophthalmologists and clinical staff to provide exceptional patient care while performing a variety of diagnostic testing and clinical support duties. The Comprehensive Eye Service cares for patients with a wide range of ophthalmic needs, including follow-up visits from the Urgent Eye Care Center, diabetic eye examinations, comprehensive eye exams, and cataract evaluations. Candidates should be detail-oriented, patient-focused, and adaptable, as flexibility to support other departments within the building as needed is required. Travel to other UPMC locations is minimal, accounting for less than 5% of the role. Visual fields: Amsler grid %26amp; confrontation fieldsOcular Motility: Knowledge of the functions %26amp; anomalies, cover tests, stereo-acuity, nystagmus Refractometry: auto-refractor, transposing scripts from + to -%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3ETonometry: ICare, Tonopen and the care and proper disinfection of each. Supplemental skills: Color testing, glare testAngle assessment %26amp; dilation of pupils. Contact lenses: insertion, removal, and instructions.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EAssist with maintaining office inventory, notifying appropriate staff when supplies are needed, restocking exam rooms, cleaning and sterilizing of instruments and cleaning patient exam rooms at end of day. • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
•  Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in an Ophthalmology office or combination of related education and/or experience preferred. 
• Completion of AAO Home Study Course is preferred. 
• Prior optometric or ophthalmic experience preferred.
  
  Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
