Cape Fox Concentric Methods LLC is accepting resumes for a Ophthalmology Technician to provide full time services to our deserving Navy Facility at Camp Pendleton California.
The total hourly pay for this non-exempt position is $33.49. This is comprised of a base hourly rate of 28.56 plus $4.93 per hour Health & Welfare (H&W) for up to 40 hours per week as required by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCLS) regulations. This rate represents the company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. In addition, for eligible positions we offer a variety of benefits including specified holidays, paid leave, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, as well as 401K with company match. This job will be posted until filled or withdrawn.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a wide variety of duties to assist the optometrist/ophthalmologist as appropriate to the level of certification (i.e., COA, COT, or COMT).
- Obtain patient histories, perform prescription verification, and maintain patient records.
- Assist in testing patient vision. Test far and near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception.
- Examine the eye, using slit lamp, for abnormalities of cornea, and anterior and posterior chambers.
- Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
- Measure intraocular pressure of eyes (glaucoma test).
- Test field of vision, including central and peripheral vision, for defects, and chart test results on graph paper.
- Measure axial length of eye, using ultrasound equipment.
- Instruct patients concerning eye care and contact lens handling.

- Certificate - Complete an ophthalmology technician or an optometric technician course.
- Possess and maintain current certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmology Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology or a completed a formal ophthalmic training program of the United Stated Armed Forces.
- Certification in operation of the VISX Star S4 Excimer Laser. In the event the HCW does not possess the certification, the HCW shall obtain certification in operation of the VISX Star S4 Excimer Laser within 120 days of start date.
- Manufacturer certification to program the INTRALASE femtosecond laser for the creation of laser made LASIK flaps and 1-year hands-on experience. In the event the HCW does not possess the certification, the HCW shall obtain certification in operation of the INTRALASE femtosecond laser within 120 days of start date.
- One year of experience as an Ophthalmology Technician after graduation.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
