What You'll Do

Pantex is the only facility of its kind in the Western Hemisphere tasked with protecting our nation and global allies, making the mission possible of a safe and effective nuclear deterrent. Forget coffee runs—at Pantex, you’ll take on real responsibility, lead critical projects, and help secure the nation. Over 12 weeks, you'll close the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world execution. Guided by an incredible support team—including a dedicated supervisor, department mentor, and HR career liaison—you will work alongside world-class experts on cutting-edge initiatives across operational and technical disciplines.

Depending on your background, your hands-on project could involve 3D printing, machine learning, engineering design, electrical testing, software risk assessments, application development, digital modeling, or process improvement. At the end of the summer, you’ll showcase your achievements at the Pantex Intern Expo, presenting directly to executive leadership and peers across the site.

Internship Details:
- Duration: 12-week paid internship at the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas.
- Dates: Monday, May 24th – Friday, August 13th.
- Benefits: Competitive compensation, stipend, and inbound/outbound travel assistance for relocating interns (as applicable).
- Development: Paired with a technical staff member and mentor, participate in professional development workshops, and attend social activities.
- Spotlight: Present your summer project at the end-of-summer Intern Expo to executive leadership and fellow Pantexans.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Education: Currently pursuing or have recently completed a degree from an accredited institution of higher education
- Minimum of 15 completed credit hours at time of application
- Minimum of 2.8/4.0 GPA
- Must upload current and complete transcript(s) at time of application (Unofficial is acceptable.)
- Note: Recent graduates are eligible up to two years post-graduation

- Engineering: Mechanical, Fire Protection, Welding or Materials Joining, Computer, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Civil/Structural.
- IT, Computing & Data: Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Digital Media.
- Sciences & Math: Physics, Chemistry, General Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Electronics.
- Business & Operations: Business, Supply Chain Management, or related fields
Note: For Engineering tracks, degrees must be from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents thru ABET Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA).
There is a preferred Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement for Engineering:
- 3.0/4.0 minimum cumulative GPA for Associate or Bachelor's degree
- 3.3 minimum cumulative GPA for Master's degree
- 3.5 minimum cumulative GPA for PhD
