About this role

The Park System Technical Specialist requires an in-depth understanding of customer and vehicle-level needs. This role is responsible for synthesizing these needs into functional, durability, functional safety, and NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) requirements for the park system.  Technical specialist shall possess thorough understanding of Park by Cable, Park by Wire and park actuation systems and knowledge of the FMVSS.  The specialist will manage component and system-level requirements while driving technology roadmaps within the Hydraulics & Electromechanical Components Center of Excellence (COE).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Translate vehicle and customer needs into park system functional, durability, safety, and NVH requirements
  • Define and maintain technical requirements for hydraulic, mechanical, and electromechanical components
  • Lead root-cause analysis for field issues to deliver timely interim and permanent solutions.
  • Lead design reviews, sign off on engineering drawings, and thoroughly review DFMEAs and DVP&Rs
  • Collaborate within the COE to build and maintain technical infrastructure and the long-term technology roadmap
  • Achieve high-quality engineering sign-offs with minimal redesign loops
  • Minimize the time taken to identify, contain, and permanently fix field issues
  • Deliver all DFMEA, DVP&R, and drawing approvals according to program timelines
  • Promote intellectual property identification and development
  • Coach, train and mentor less experienced engineers within team

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree field
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in park systems for internal combustion engine, battery electric vehicle applications
  • Experience in design and release of the park by wire and park by cable components and systems
  • Understanding of system engineering within automatic transmissions and electric drives
  • Ability to author system/component level requirements
  • Strong interpersonal communication and team leadership skills and comfortable with presenting to executive leadership teams
  • Ability to travel to Stellantis assembly plants, supplier manufacturing facilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering 
  • Working level experience with motor controls, communication protocols, sensors, software and functional safety
  • Working experience with PCBs for actuators
  • Greenbelt or Blackbelt DFSS verification
