About this role
About the Department
This position is located at Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego, LA. The purpose of this position is to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the parks buildings and facilities, to assist the administrative staff in the collection of appropriate fees and/or conduct preventative and corrective maintenance to state park facilities.

Job Duties:
- Serves as lead worker over all assigned duties.
- Cleans interior and exterior of facilities as site.
- Sweeps, mops, and washes site facilities.
- Removes trash & collects litter and debris.
- Cleans furniture.
- Cleans site’s grounds and facilities.
- Cleans picnic areas to include tables and grills.
- Perform basic corrective and preventative maintenance to site facilities.
- Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
- Use ladders when required in work assignments.
- Requires ability to stoop, bend, balance, kneel, crouch, sit, and stand on a regular daily basis in the cleaning of the site’s facilities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned and performs customer service to a high degree of excellence.
Position-Specific Details:
- Location: Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego, LA.
- Appointment Type: Probational, Promotion, or Detail to Special Duty.
- Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Park Technician A, B, or C. As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled based on the qualifications of the selected applicant. Please refer to the "Class Specifications" page for specific information of salary ranges, minimum qualifications, and job concepts for each level.
- Work Schedule: State Parks are open 365 days a year. Position will work as rotating schedule of 40 hours/week, which can include holidays and/or weekends as needed, to ensure coverage at the park.
- Travel: Position requires driving around the park as part of the daily shift. Travel may be required to other state parks to assist in staffing or events, as needed. A state vehicle is available for employee use while on duty.
- Compensation: Compensation offered will be dependent on level of experience and certification, so please be sure to include all education and work experience for consideration.
