Job Summary

The University of Michigan Logistics, Transportation & Parking Department has an opportunity for you to join the Parking Customer Services team as a Parking Application and Gate Operations Specialist.

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate database information, monitoring gate operations, coordinating response to equipment issues, pulling reports and performing data analysis, providing customer service, and reconciling patient/visitor parking revenue. You will primarily work out of the 3231 Baxter Road office and report to a Parking Customer Services Supervisor.

If you have a solid technical background, can manage a work load that requires strong attention to detail, and an exceptional focus on customer service, this role within Parking Customer Services is for you. 

Responsibilities*

  • Monitor parking gate systems to verify proper operation. Dispatch field support technicians and promptly communicate gate status changes to the customer service teams.
  • Maintain accurate system operations across multiple applications through data entry tasks and database clean-up activities. 
  • Review daily reports and analyze data from multiple sources to identify trends or issues as directed.
  • Deliver excellent customer service through clear communication and provide prompt resolutions.
  • Follow procedures to reconcile visitor parking revenue and clearly document cash deposits/withdrawals made for the pay machines.

Required Qualifications*

  • Associates degree and/or relevant experience in data entry and customer service.
  • Demonstrated strong communication (oral and written) with proficiency in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and proofreading.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work load with attention to detail and meet deadlines while demonstrating flexibility when priorities or deadlines change.
  • Flexibility to work independently or as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.)

Modes of Work

Work Schedule

40 hours per week with work hours Monday - Friday. The shift start time for this position would be in the late morning and end in the early evening.
