About this role

The University of Iowa Parking & Transportation department is seeking a Parking Field Services Officer II. Under general supervision, this position will patrol campus to ensure compliance with university parking regulations. It will respond to violations on foot, bicycle, or in motor vehicles. The Field Services Officer provides assistance to motorists/bicyclist, various University departments and programs such as the University of Iowa Health Care, University Van Pool, Parking Cashiering and Maintenance, and University Police.

 

Duties to Include:

  • Patrol campus to enforce motorist and bicycle parking regulations, issues parking violations through operation of electronic tickets writers; uses independent discretion when enforcing parking regulations.

  • Analyze and resolve campus parking issues that impact faculty/staff/students and public.

  • Operate License Plate Recognition system.

  • Screen, clear, and secure lots prior/during special events.

  • Ability to work in a variety of environments including high traffic public areas, low lit areas, and exposure to extreme weather conditions.

Schedule: Multiple openings are available on both 1st Shift and 2nd Shift. Applicants may be considered for either shift based on qualifications, availability, and operational needs. (overtime as required for special events (i.e., athletic events, concerts, etc.)

 

Location: University Campus


Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent, and;

  • Any combination of public contact experience and/or college or university level course work which is equivalent to three years of full-time employment.

Special Qualifications:

  • A valid driver’s license is required, as well as an ability to meet University of Iowa Driving Policy.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of University of Iowa Campus and locations of various parking facilities.
  • Customer service/public contact experience.
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills in order to interact effectively with people from various backgrounds and cultures.
