Part Time Chaplaincy Position
Part-time (10 hours a week) Chaplain needed in a 224-bed psychiatric facility located on two campuses.
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
The Chaplain assists patients and staff in meeting their spiritual, social, and emotional needs during their stay. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Department of Mental Health and facility specific mission, vision and values.
Qualifications - All you need for success
· Experience and education in ministry strongly preferred.
· Possess an understanding of mental illness or be willing to learn. Mentoring and training will be provided.
Compassion and respect for the dignity of each person.
· Good communication and listening skills.
· Ability to minister to the whole person with an emphasis on the spiritual.
· Ability to be self-reflective about work.
· Responds with respect, graciousness, kindness and spiritual comfort.
· Ability to work independently in the context of a strong pastoral team and in cooperation with the interdisciplinary clinical team to provide quality services.
· Able to work in emotional and stressful situations.
· Advocates for patients and/or co-worker when the need arises.
· Able to take direction and willing to receive training about providing pastoral care to the mentally ill.
· Uses computer systems and telephone systems effectively.
· Must complete all annual training as assigned.
· Must comply with Department policy regarding vaccinations and TB testing.
· A background check and drug testing are required conditions of employment by the Department of Mental Health.
