About this role

Campus: Gateway
Unit: Neuro ICU
Shift: Weekend Option Nights

Position Overview

Step into a high-acuity, highly specialized environment where every shift makes a difference. As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the Neuro ICU, you’ll be an essential part of the clinical team, working side-by-side with nurses and contributing directly to the care of critically ill neuroscience and medical patients.

This is a unique opportunity to build advanced clinical skills while supporting some of the most complex and rewarding patient care in the hospital.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide hands-on bedside care including bathing, oral hygiene, toileting, linen changes, and overall patient comfort
  • Assist with mobility, repositioning, and safe patient transfers in a critical care setting
  • Monitor, obtain, and accurately record vital signs to support clinical decision-making
  • Document important patient information clearly and consistently in medical records
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care, including meaningful support for patients and families during end-of-life situations

This role requires comfort in fast-paced, sensitive, and high-acuity situations, including exposure to bodily fluids. It is ideal for someone who is compassionate, resilient, and detail-oriented, and who thrives in an environment where teamwork and precision directly impact patient outcomes.

Unit Overview

The Neuro ICU is a 19-bed intensive care unit specializing in neuroscience and medical critical care. You will care for patients with complex conditions such as stroke, cranial surgery recovery, neuro-endovascular procedures, and other acute neurological and medical illnesses requiring intensive monitoring and support.

As part of a designated Primary Stroke Center, the unit is recognized for delivering rapid, high-quality stroke care and advanced neurocritical treatment. This is a highly collaborative environment where nursing staff demonstrate advanced clinical judgment, critical thinking, and expertise every day.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Healthcare Provider certification required within 6 months of hire
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
