Job Summary: The Peer Tutor (BSC/CH) for the TRIO Student Support Services Program helps students better understand academic concepts.

Additional Department Summary: The TRIO Student Support Services Program is seeking knowledgeable and energetic undergraduate students for Fall 2026 to tutor MATH 005 - 125, BSC 108, 109, 114, 116, 215, 216, 242, and/or CH 101, 102, 104, and/or 105. Peer Tutors are not hired as experts, but to help students better understand academic concepts while benefiting in the following areas:

• Flexible work schedule with a payrate of $10.00/hour
• Comprehensive training program with prep time for subject areas
• Opportunity to become a Certificated Tutor through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA)
• Opportunity to establish stronger relationships with faculty and departments

Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama undergraduate student with a minimum 3.33 GPA. Have earned a grade of A or A+ at The University of Alabama in the courses tutored 

Skills and Knowledge: Strong knowledge of subject area tutored. Ability to explain fundamental concepts of relevant course(s) to students. Comfortable using Zoom. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Strong knowledge of the following subject areas: Biology and Chemistry.

Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
