Summary

The Federal Reserve Board (Board) provides students opportunities for career success. The Board’s Internship program is designed to provide valuable work experience for graduate students considering careers including, but not limited to, economics, finance and accounting, information systems, and data analysis. The Board believes that by combining academic endeavors with project-related work experience, qualified and capable college students can gain the practical knowledge need in a competitive global job market. Internships are paid positions with salaries commensurate with credit hours; internships may be in-person, remote or hybrid, depending on the needs of the team. Employment in the Board’s internship program is granted to U.S. citizens. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at an accredited university and returning to continue studies after the internship. Interns receive a syllabus or research project plan outlining their projects and goals for the internship. Interns are assigned a supervisor or mentor to guide them through their internship, and regular check-in meetings with their manager to manage performance expectations and assist with learning goals. Interns have access to a wide range of training programs and events for professional development purposes.


The People, Strategy & Operations (PSO) section in the Division of Management & Financial Services works to attract, retain and develop talent and foster a high performing work culture at the Federal Reserve Board. Selected Candidate will support Human Resources activities and projects as assigned, including: 

  • Develop business presentations using PowerPoint

  • Compile and analyze information and develop reports, proposals, or documents using visualization tools

  • Liaise to resolve information or project requests and maintain accurate documentation and records on projects

  •  Assist with web content management requests and support digital design capabilities for print, web, and MS Office Suite

  •  Perform analysis of workforce data and develop workforce dashboards in Tableau

  • Leverage Microsoft Excel to manage workforce data sets

Qualifications

US Citizenship is required. Applicants must be current students, graduating from their program post-internship. Proof of enrollment will be required. 

This position requires a minimum of 20 hours per week and an onsite presence at the Board's offices in Washington, DC. 

Required Documents for application: Resume required, cover letter recommended; a copy of an unofficial transcript may be requested; a writing sample may be requested. 

Suggested Major/Minor: Graduate level (master's or PhD) in Human Resources, Business Management, Data Analytics & Visualization, Economics or a related field.  

Required Skills and Knowledge: Proficiency with MS Office suite, Advanced Excel, Adobe-articulate, Tableau, Web development or programming. 

Preferred Skills: Experience with data and content visualization and storytelling,

Other Job Requirements: Growth mindset (interest in learning, attention to detail and ability to hear and apply feedback)

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)

  • Familiarization with website content management systems
