Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Staff Development (40%)

Develop and maintain a highly engaged, knowledgeable, and results-oriented fitness team that reflects the organization's values and commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and develop qualified Personal Trainers.
  • Manage employee performance through regular coaching, feedback, and accountability measures.
  • Conduct weekly or as-needed one-on-one meetings with direct reports to review performance, set goals, and provide professional development guidance.
  • Identify and cultivate career advancement opportunities for team members.
  • Train and support membership and club staff on fitness programs, supplements, and wellness offerings, emphasizing their impact on member engagement and retention.
  • Manage Personal Trainer schedules while ensuring labor costs remain within approved budget guidelines.
  • Foster positive employee relations and address team concerns professionally and effectively.
  • Partner with club leadership and Human Resources, as appropriate, to address performance issues and administer corrective action when necessary.

Fitness Operations & Program Management (40%)

Ensure members have access to highly trained fitness professionals who deliver safe, effective, and results-driven training programs consistent with company standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the quality and effectiveness of all personal training programs and services.
  • Ensure Personal Trainers consistently provide exceptional coaching, instruction, and client support.
  • Develop and manage weekly staff schedules while ensuring accurate timekeeping and payroll compliance.
  • Monitor adherence to company Time & Labor policies and proactively manage overtime expenses.
  • Serve as the primary resource for member fitness-related questions, concerns, and service needs.
  • Promote member engagement and participation in personal training and other fitness services.
  • Drive achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals related to personal training services and supplement sales.
  • Conduct ongoing training and education for fitness staff on industry trends, best practices, program design, and coaching methodologies.
  • Ensure all trainers maintain the skills, certifications, and professional standards necessary to deliver exceptional client experiences.

Sales & Member Experience (20%)

Support club growth through fitness program sales, member engagement, and superior customer service.

Responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of company fitness programs, training methodologies, and associated software platforms, including but not limited to dotFIT, ABC/Datatrak, Crunch-U, VFP, and Styku (where applicable).
  • Promote personal training services and wellness programs to prospective and existing members.
  • Build strong relationships with members to support retention, satisfaction, and long-term fitness success.
  • Respond professionally and promptly to member, guest, and staff inquiries.
  • Maintain a positive, enthusiastic, and service-oriented approach in all interactions.
  • Support club initiatives designed to increase member participation and revenue generation.
  • Ensure all fitness equipment is operated safely and maintained according to company standards.
  • Lead and motivate individuals and groups through effective coaching and communication.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Previous leadership experience in fitness, personal training, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in team leadership, staff development, and performance management.
  • Strong understanding of exercise science, program design, and personal training best practices.
  • Proven ability to achieve revenue and performance goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire both team members and clients.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of fitness technology platforms and club management software preferred.
  • Ability to safely demonstrate and operate all fitness equipment utilized within the facility.
