About this role

MAJOR FUNCTION:

The Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients seeking urgent medical attention as well as occupational health services. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in urgent care or ER preferred
  • Strong clinical skills and the ability to work independently

Licensure/ Certification:

  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Active and unrestricted PA license in NJ
  • DEA & NJ Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) license 
  • BLS certification
  • Obtain National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners certification within 6 months of accepting the job

  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and obtain medical histories
  • Perform DOT physicals
  • Diagnose and treat acute illnesses and injuries
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, lab work, and EKGs
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing medications and therapies
  • Provide patient education on health maintenance and disease prevention
  • Perform minor procedures, such as suturing, I&D, splinting, and wound care
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development
