Platform, Security & AI Engineering Intern - Summer 2027

Veeam Software is the Data and AI Trust Company, specializing in data resilience, data security posture management, and enabling safe AI at scale. The intern will contribute to backend and infrastructure development, AI agent and knowledge pipeline development, security and vulnerability management, and tooling and reliability initiatives.

What you'll do:

• Backend & Infrastructure: Write backend code and automation in Go within a large, production-grade codebase. You will learn established patterns for scalable infrastructure under the guidance of senior engineers, deploying and managing containerized applications across Kubernetes clusters and AWS infrastructure (EKS, ECR, IAM)
• AI & Agent Development: Build long-running agents that unleash the full power of the Securiti AI + Veeam platforms for CISOs and security analysts. This includes unlocking automated breach impact analysis, compliance reporting, and data access auditing across hybrid multicloud environments
• Agent Evaluation & Knowledge Pipelines: Develop Agent Evaluation Pipelines to measurably assess reliability and task completion rates. You will also build knowledge discovery pipelines that surface institutional knowledge (policy research, compliance frameworks) into agent-consumable layers for sharper decision-making
• Security & Vulnerability Management: Analyze Kubernetes deployment configurations to identify and fix security gaps. You will help manage the CVE lifecycle by identifying and patching vulnerabilities in container images to harden the platform
• Tooling & Reliability: Develop internal tooling, testing harnesses, and security utilities to improve team productivity. You will also execute and validate API and cross-service integration tests to ensure system reliability as the platform evolves

What they're looking for:

• Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree or a graduate student in an accredited college or university
• Ability to work independently with limited direction in a fast-paced environment; must be a high-energy, motivated self-starter
• This role requires you to be in office 5 days a week at the San Jose, California location
• Strong willingness to learn, innovate, and contribute to the intersection of Cyber Security, Data Resilience, and AI
• You should understand core data structures, algorithms, and how to independently debug your own code
• Familiarity with Cyber & Data Security practices, alongside a foundational understanding of AI Agents, LLMs, and Agent Evaluations
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerization
• Basic knowledge of Git and GitHub for collaborative software development
• Currently pursuing a major in:
