We’re looking for a Police Officer 2 or Police Officer 3 to join our University of Louisiana at Lafayette team. Police Officers provide a full range of law enforcement and public safety services, including enforcement of laws, investigation of crimes and accidents, emergency response, and crime prevention. The level at which the selected applicant is appointed will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Job Duties:

As a Police Officer 2 or Police Officer 3, you will:

• Protect lives and property through active foot and mobile patrols.

• Enforce applicable laws and investigate crimes and accidents.

• Respond to emergency situations and provide emergency services as necessary.

• Conduct crime prevention and security activities.

• Investigate incidents, gather information, collect evidence, make arrests, and provide court testimony when required.

• Enforce parking, traffic, and campus regulations.

• Perform security and traffic-control assignments as needed.

• Participate in special assignments and other law enforcement operations as directed.

• Maintain appropriate police reports, records, logs, and other documentation.

• Operate law enforcement communication and computer systems as required.

• Assist members of the University community and respond to calls for police services.

• Perform other related law enforcement and public safety duties as assigned.

At the Police Officer 3 level, duties may also include:

• Routinely participate in complex criminal investigations, intelligence gathering, and surveillance operations.

• Investigate serious crimes and accidents.

• Handle complex matters involving criminal investigations, evidence collection, arrests, and court testimony.

• Participate in specialized assignments involving large crowd-control operations, surveillance, intelligence gathering, fire safety, environmental safety, hazardous materials, and selective enforcement programs.

• Serve on hazardous materials or crisis intervention response teams when assigned.

• Serve as a lead worker over lower-level police officers or as an assistant shift supervisor when assigned.

Appointment Type: Probational

Career Progression: This position may be filled as either a Police Officer 2 or Police Officer 3 based on the selected applicant's qualifications, experience, and assigned duties.

Work Location: University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Lafayette, LA 70504

Compensation: Compensation will be determined based on the level at which the position is filled.
