Overview:

At WakeMed, our Police Officers play a critical role in keeping our campuses safe, welcoming, and secure for patients, visitors, and teammates. You’ll combine traditional law enforcement responsibilities with a service‑first mindset in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.

 

What You’ll Do

• Patrol WakeMed property to protect patients, visitors, staff, and facilities while enforcing applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
• Respond to criminal and non‑criminal calls for service, assess situations quickly, and take appropriate action to reduce risk and maintain safety.
• Detain, arrest, and process criminal violations that occur on WakeMed property, completing all required reports, citations, and documentation.
• Assist with patient transport and subject control when individuals pose a risk to themselves or others, following North Carolina commitment procedures.
• Support investigations using WakeMed CCTV systems and operate departmental vehicles in compliance with state law and policy.

Department Description: Licensure: Certified by NC Training and Standards Commission Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent And Accredited Program Basic Law Enforcement Training Required Associate's Degree Police Science Or Related Field Preferred Experience: 2 Years Law Enforcement Required
