About this Position

The College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in Dr. Patrauchan laboratory, Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. This is a full-time, 12-month appointment with the possibility of annual renewal for two additional years based on performance, funding availability, and college needs.

The College seeks to recruit dynamic, innovative scholars who are committed to excellence in research, scholarship, and academic collaboration. OSU’s College of Arts and Sciences is home to 23 departments across the humanities, social sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences, offering vibrant opportunities for interdisciplinary engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research to study the molecular mechanisms by which calcium signaling regulates cell differentiation and biomineralization during biofilm development and integrates with other signaling systems in the human pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
  • Participate actively in laboratory meetings, departmental seminars, and collaborative research activities. Publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Assist with mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Contribute to the development of grant proposals and new research directions.

Required Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or closely related discipline by the position’s start date (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date).
  • Demonstrated research experience in bacterial physiology and genetics, molecular cloning, transcriptomics, and microscopy.
  • Evidence of research productivity appropriate to career stage.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and scientific communication skills.
  • A commitment to rigorous, ethical, and reproducible research practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in recombinant protein work and biochemical characterization.
  • Evidence of strong communication and mentoring skills.

Appointment Details:

  • Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Fellows receive a competitive benefits package.
  • Initial appointment for one year, with possible annual renewal for two additional years pending satisfactory progress.

This position is contingent on the availability of funding.
